Our New Journey
Wellness 50 Plus was created to assist former New Life Hiking Spa guests and others over 50 seeking wellness advice in navigating their “New Life” after fifty, as well as offering wellness tips and travel advice on spas and retreats.
After the decision was made to not reopen New Life as usual in 2021 after the coronavirus shutdowns, Wellness 50 Plus was born. Wellness 50 Plus plans to hold a limited number of week-long retreats in various locations in the United States in 2023. Wellness coaching is also being offered either by video or on the phone by Jimmy LeSage, M.S. New Life Hiking Spa’s founder.
This new website will also point visitors to a curated list of other spas and retreats that are open year-round and a variety of health and wellness articles specifically written to help wellness seekers over the age of fifty on their wellness journey.
For more than four decades, New Life Hiking Spa’s mission was to allow guests to immerse themselves in a vacation that offered complete wellness programming at an affordable, all-inclusive price.
Founded in 1978, New Life was one of the country’s original wellness retreats and has regularly been recognized for being authentic, affordable, and all-inclusive. The hiking spa, located in the Green Mountains of Vermont, was open 20 weeks a year during the peak hiking season in the Killington Region. During the pandemic, our host hotel was sold to a New York hotel company. The hotel has recently been sold again in March of 2022. The property has had extensive renovations and it is an incredible place to stay if you are in Killington. However, New Life Hiking Spa is no longer able to operate the same program for 20 weeks a year at this hotel. We did not know it at the time, but 2019 was our last season at the Killington Mountain Lodge. As we move forward, we are investigating running date-specific, one-week retreats as New Life did in the 1980s. Please sign up for our Wellness50Plus newsletter to receive updates on future offerings.

New Life Hiking Spa was named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Wellness Resorts & Retreats, placing in the top five for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Despite being closed for the season the past two years, New Life was still in the top ten for 2020 & 2021 as a result of the incredible reputation garnered throughout the last forty years of business.
